Horizon 2030: the digital megatrends redefining the EU landscape
As global digital innovation reshapes economic and geopolitical dynamics, Europe stands at a turning point in defining its technological sovereignty and competitiveness for the next decade. The first Digital Talk 2026 of the European Digital Tech Watch initiative, held in collaboration with the Center for Digital Envisioning (CDE) of the Polimi School of Management, will explore the key digital megatrends shaping Europe’s future toward 2030.
Drawing on the CDE’s research, which identifies nineteen future digital megatrends and focuses on five particularly transformative ones, the event will highlight the strategic transition of computing from a commoditized service to a critical infrastructure at the heart of Europe’s digital sovereignty. Through the lens of Critical Computing – spanning data centers, cloud sovereignty, and quantum technologies – and the resulting interconnections with the evolving domains of Data Management, Application and Services, Front end and Digital Governance, participants will discuss how digital infrastructures, enriched data ecosystems, systemic cybersecurity and AI evolution are redefining economic models, industrial priorities, and governance systems across the continent.
Bringing together institutional leaders and digital executives from major European enterprises, this conversation will uncover the megatrends driving Europe’s digital and geopolitical transformation, while outlining possible scenarios for achieving a resilient, autonomous, and sustainable digital future by 2030.
